2010 honda cr-v review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Fresh new looks, with better power, better economy. introductionthe honda cr-v is among the best of the compact suvs and it's hugely popular.  for 2010, honda cr-v boasts significant changes. The 2010 honda cr-v has been re-styled, with a look that's smoother and more confident. The back seats fold perfectly flat and without the holes that can be hazardous to dogs. Built on a unit-body structure, the cr-v is considered a crossover. New for 2010 are a usb audio interface for the stereo, and automatic (on/off) headlights. For crash avoidance there are antilock brakes (which let the driver steer during panic stops); electronic brake-force distribution (which optimizes braking power front-to-rear during emergency stops); brake assist (which senses impending emergency brake application and boosts pedal pressure); vehicle stability assist (honda's electronic stability control system that attempts to minimize skidding in turns); and tire pressure monitors (which warn of dangerous drops in tire pressure). walkaroundthe honda cr-v presents a new face for 2010. The individual changes are all subtle, but they add up visually. Starting from the top and working down, the cut-line between the hood and grille has been moved up to where it's level with the top of the grille opening, rather than reaching down around the opening as before. The upper grille itself has been simplified: the centered honda h-logo remains, but it's now supported by a single, slim chrome blade, in place of last year's heavy-looking chrome double bar. The lower grille has surrendered its horizontal slats in favor of a black honeycomb texture. A piece of bright trim helps define its lower boundary on ex and ex-l models.  below that, the dark-plastic ersatz skid plate remains, but it's been dialed back considerably, leaving room for an actual body-color bumper beneath the lower grille. Funny how the same treatment seems to make the back of the cr-v fussier, albeit only a little. But more than any of the body changes we like the cr-v's new alloy wheels: with their five elegantly slim double spokes, they make the old seven-spoke wheels look downright dowdy by comparison.  if nothing else, the new front end does an even better job of pulling the cr-v's visual mass downwards, reducing its perceived height. Unchanged are the large, sharply angled headlight housings that crowd the upper grille and blend down into the lower air intake. Stout fender flares stretch out to wrap tightly around the tires, giving the new cr-v a sturdy, planted stance.  the side aspect, unchanged except for the new wheels, shows most clearly the cr-v's departure from the more common boxy, mini-suv look. Starting from the gently rounded hood, the relatively fast windshield flows into a roofline that drops ever so slightly as it passes over the sharply tapered glasshouse, ending at the tailgate's top edge, which itself is pulled forward to a point almost directly above the rear wheel well. A strong character line runs from the top of the front wheel well back beneath the full-round door handles to bifurcate the side marker lens of the rear taillight. To us, it looks a little like the mercedes-benz r-class in the overall outline.  above the new rear bumper, the cr-v's hindquarters still present more of the classic suv look, with a trapezoidal backlight bookended by the trademark cr-v high taillights and atop a fairly tall and relatively broad, high-relief tailgate panel. The oversize license plate recess will accommodate almost any country's registration telltale. interiorthe interior of the honda cr-v focuses on function, with a bit of style tossed in to make things interesting. Everything is in its place for the most part, and everything feels the way it should. Quality of materials and fit and finish overall live up to honda's standards.  for 2010, seat fabrics are new, and there's more bright trim for a cheerier atmosphere without overdoing it. Conversely, models with ivory upholstery now come with a darker-colored (read: dirt hiding) carpet. We particularly like honda's subtle re-take of the cr-v's big, upright interior door handles: the upper attachment point now looks like a miniature of the lower one, and in between is a rubberized grip. The center folding armrests are now wider, too.  for 2010, the audio panel features a dual-tone gray/black color scheme with blue backlighting; and the premium stereo gets a usb interface. The multi-information display now appears against a blue background as well, matching the radio. Display functions now include a compass on non-navigation models; with navigation, bluetooth status is displayed.  otherwise the dashboard and instrument cluster remain classic honda, as in, friendly to eye and hand, with the only mildly discordant note the placement of the shift lever, sprouting from a pod suspended from the center of the dash. While neither as ergonomic as a floor-mounted lever nor as natural, in an archaic sort of way, as one mounted on the steering column, it is consistent with the emphasis on flexibility in the front seat area. In the lx and ex, the space between the front seats that might otherwise host a console and floor-mounted shift lever is dedicated to a unique, multi-use tray that when not needed folds down against the side of the passenger seat, opening a walk-through access to the rear seat. The ex-l gets a more traditional, fixed center console, with cup holders and storage space for up to 24 cds. Some of this storage space is lost on ex-l models with navigation, where the console must house the cd changer as well. As if in compensation, a digital audio-card reader is still exclusive to the navigation model.  the front seats seem a little short on thigh support. But to the limited extent the cr-v lends itself to sporty driving, the seatback side bolsters do an adequate job of keeping occupants' upper bodies in place. Not so the seat-bottom bolsters, shaped more for ease of entry and exit than for restraining posteriors. There is, however, a welcome. 2006 honda ridgeline review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Honda builds its first pickup, and it's a winner. introductionwith this new ridgeline pickup truck, honda has taken everything that's good about the odyssey minivan, the element suv and pilot suv, and made the newest, most innovative pickup truck on the american market.  the all-new 2006 honda ridgeline doesn't look or act like any other pickup truck we've ever driven. It has a family storage solution in its bed that no other pickup truck can match. And it won't cost an arm and a leg to buy or to operate. Honda says the main competition for the ridgeline comes from dodge dakota, chevrolet colorado, ford explorer sport trac and toyota tacoma on size and function.  pickup trucks have traditionally been built with a separate nose section, cab section, and cargo bed, bolted to a separate ladder frame, but this first honda pickup uses both a welded unibody construction and a steel ladder frame, welded together, with the cab and cargo bed made as one piece, with separate subframes for the engine, front suspension and rear suspension. Honda says it is 20 times more resistant to twisting than any other pickup truck, and 3. 5 times more resistant to bending. Honda says the ridgeline can carry 1550 pounds of cargo or tow up to 5000 pounds.  the ridgeline is one of the nicest midsize trucks we've driven in terms of comfort and ease of use, though some of the others in this class have a bit more dash and flash inside. At the high end, ridgeline will be offered with a dvd satellite navigation system, displayed on an eight-inch-wide screen, plus xm satellite radio, leather seating surfaces and a moonroof. lineupthe ridgeline will be sold in three different levels of standard equipment, but there are no exterior badges on the tailgate to indicate the model.  the rt 27,700) is the base model, followed by the rts 30,075) and rtl 31,490) versions, topped by the rtl with a navigation system, xm satellite radio and a moonroof 34,640).  rt has black bumpers, black door handles and steel wheels while the other two use body-color handles and bumpers and alloy wheels. Rt has manual seats, rts and rtl power seats. Rt has no lumbar support, rts has manual lumbar, and rtl has power lumbar. The base rt audio system pumps 100 watts, the other two 160 watts and seven instead of six speakers. Rts has alloy wheels, 6-disc changer, dual-zone climate control, and eight-way driver's seat. Rtl has heated leather seats, homelink, and xm.  options include xm satellite radio, an mp3 digital interface, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls on rts and rtl, satellite navigation and a roof-mounted dvd entertainment system.  all models are powered by the excellent honda 3. 5-liter engine, all models will have a five-speed automatic transmission, and all models will have honda's automatic vtm-4 all-wheel-drive system that normally proportions drive 60 percent to the front wheels, 40 percent to the rear, and can go to 30/70 when necessary. It incorporates a limited-slip differential and a lock feature.  safety equipment standard on ridgeline includes anti-lock brakes, traction control, vehicle stability assist, standard all-wheel drive, front multi-stage airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, lap and shoulder belts for all seating positions and latch systems for each of the three rear seating positions. It adds up to more safety equipment than any other truck in its class, according to honda. walkaroundwe said that the ridgeline doesn't look or act like any other pickup, whether it's from america or japan, and it doesn't. The grille, the front end, the cab shape, the buttresses coming down off the rear of the roof to join the integrated pickup bed, all seem to have been deliberately designed to be shockingly different.  the standard grille looks busy, but an optional grille is available through the honda accessory program, one of about 50 items already developed for dealer installation. The profile view features a lot of metal sculpturing from end to end that normal pickup trucks with separate beds don't have.  ridgeline's bed is made of steel-reinforced smc plastic, not steel with a sprayed-on or slipped-in liner. The cargo bed is five feet long with the tailgate up, and six and a half feet long with the tailgate down, enabling it to carry two dirt bikes or a large atv. A tubular aluminum cargo bed extender is available for longer loads. The trunk is fitted with a drain plug for those times when ice turns to water, or when accumulated crud needs to be hosed out. interiorinside, the ridgeline is all about comfort, convenience and space, which honda says it has more of than any other truck in the class. Bucket seats come standard in front with a center console. The split folding 60/40 rear seat is actually comfortable for two adults, with a 24-degree backrest angle, more like a front seat. A 6-foot male driver would be able to fit behind himself in the back seat with ample leg room and knee room.  we found the driver and front passenger seats to be roomy, comfortable and supportive, with plenty of adjustment range for rake and travel. The transmission upshifting and downshifting was instantaneous, decisive, and nearly imperceptible. Abs brakes were sure stoppers in an unladen condition with one passenger.  the incredibly high stiffness and strength of this body and chassis combination and the isolation of the drivetrain and suspension from the cab make the ridgeline a joy to drive. Independent suspension front and rear is an industry first in this segment, and the ride over choppy surfaces or off-road is excellent.  the stiffness of the body and chassis contributed to crisp, sure handling over twisty two-lane roads in san diego county. The combination of all-wheel-drive and the industry's only vehicle stability system on a midsize truck lets the driver fly around corners with abandon. It felt lighter on its feet than the ford explorer sport trac, toyota tundra trd, and chevy colorado. summarythe new honda ridgeline borders on the revolutionary, from its dramatic new look to its tailgate and storage innovations to its combination of body-on-frame isolation and unibody stiffness, all at very reasonable prices. We'd like to have more power, but we found little here not to like, bizarre front-end styling aside. For those contemplating a family recreation or commuting pickup truck for the first time, this one goes to the top of the shopping list.  new car test drive correspondent jim mccraw filed this report from san diego. model lineuphonda ridgeline rt 27,700); rts 30,075); rtl 31,490). assembled inalliston, ontario, canada. options as testedxm satellite radio, navigation system, moonroof. model testedhonda ridgeline rtl 31,490). The all-new honda ridgeline doesn't look or act like any other pickup truck. It has a covered, sealed and lockable 8. 5 cubic-foot storage compartment in its bed that no other pickup truck can match. The ridgeline will be sold in three different levels of standard equipment: the rt is the base model, followed by the rts and rtl versions, topped by the rtl with a navigation system, xm satellite radio and a moonroof. 2011 honda accord review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Measured by holistic performance or overall refinement, the accord is difficult to beat. In this make-everyone-happy world, few do it better than accord. All accords are roomy, comfortable and very easy to live with, largely free of niggling annoyances that can make otherwise good cars less appealing. The mild facelift has been applied to all models for 2011, while some new features and efficiencies increase fuel mileage ratings. A new value-priced 2011 accord se model features heated leather seating in otherwise base trim. It comes with a sporty suspension package and low-profile tires on 18-inch wheels, and goes head to head with the nissan altima coupe.  with effectively five trim levels, the accord can fit a wide range of budgets. There's a no-frills sedan with plastic wheel covers, essential features and a solid stereo, and high-trim models with sumptuous leather, mega-watt sound systems, active noise cancellation and navigation. All variants deliver high engineering standards, excellent finish, good build quality and all the important safety equipment.  some of the accord's competitors have been redesigned more recently. Others can be more fun to drive. Yet there may be none that match accord's overall combination of polish, refinement, efficiency and choice. Rather than offering traditional options or option packages, honda tends to mark upgrades in equipment with a different model designation. It comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power mirrors, windows and door locks, a tilt-telescoping steering column, folding rear seats and a 160-watt sound system with single cd and an auxiliary jack. The standard wheels are 16-inch steel with plastic covers. The 5-speed manual transmission is standard, and the 5-speed automatic 800) is available. The lx-p sedan 22,980), p for premium, adds alloy wheels, a power driver's seat, illuminated power window switches with express up/down for the front passenger, a security system and a chrome tailpipe. It also adds a six-cd changer, 17-inch alloy wheels, power moonroof, heated mirrors and premium interior accents. The ex-l models also come with 270-watt audio, xm satellite radio, bluetooth connectivity, heated front seats, compass and exterior temperature indicator, automatic on/off headlights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. For 2011, the ex-l v6 also has two-position memory for the driver's seat. The accord coupes are generally equipped comparably to sedans with the same letter designation.  the accord coupe ex 24,455) and ex-l 27,105) come standard with the automatic transmission. Other standard safety features include active front head restraints, electronic stability control, antilock brakes with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, and a tire pressure monitor. The optional navigation system includes a rearview camera, which can help the driver spot children and other hazards behind the car when backing up. walkaroundhonda accord models get a mild styling makeover for 2011. They re-emphasize the accord's conservative, upscale appearance.  the current-generation accord sedan was introduced as a 2008 model, and it's larger than any before it. Although it competes in the mid-size market segment, the sedan is classified a large car by the federal government, based on interior volume. The coupe looks lighter, perhaps more lithe.  2011 styling updates for the sedan and coupe won't be obvious from across a parking lot, but they're noticeable in details at closer range. The sedan's front bumper and grille, wedged between angular, jewel-like light clusters, have been re-shaped for 2011. The effect is a slightly more pronounced snout than before. In back, the lip of the trunk lid and the taillights have been tweaked for a crisper, even more substantial look.  in general, the accords maintain their contemporary yet notably conservative design, highlighted by a strong character line that slopes down and forward like that of the acura tl, though the hondas are much less angular than the acuras. All accord variants maintain the honda hallmarks of narrow windshield pillars and a low cowl that promote good forward visibility. 2004 honda pilot review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The honda of suvs. introductionthe pilot is the honda of sport-utilities, and its strengths should please anyone shopping for a mid-size suv. It delivers efficiency in packaging and operation, first-rate build quality and honda's reputation for reliability and durability. The pilot packs eight seats into an overall package so short that the epa considers it a compact suv. Yet its competition is the world's midsize suvs. It also delivers class-leading epa mileage ratings.  in the pilot's second full model year, honda has already begun expanding on its impressive flexibility. The second-row seat is now adjustable fore and aft, and its slide feature has more travel for easier access to the three-place third-row seat. 2004 models ordered with the leather interior come with heated front seats and side mirrors. lineupall pilots come with all-wheel drive, a v6 engine and a five-speed automatic transmission. Two models are available: lx 27,100) and ex 29,470).  all models are well equipped. Standard equipment on the pilot lx includes air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, am/fm stereo, in-dash cd player, front-passenger frontal and side-impact airbags, abs, power windows, mirrors and door locks, and a rear wiper.  the ex raises the ante with aluminum alloy wheels, body-colored molding, door handles and exterior mirrors, a power driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support, synchronized front and rear automatic climate control, an outside temperature indicator, homelink garage-door remote and a more powerful seven-speaker stereo with that adds a cassette and steering-wheel controls.  as usual, honda keeps it simple, by offering a limited number of options in three packages. In fact, the company prices pilots as separate models with the packages; we'll list them by what it will cost beyond the price of the ex, which brings us to another familiar practice. The option packages for the ex include leather interior 1,400) with heated front seats and side mirrors. The entertainment package 2,900) includes the leather package and rear-seat dvd video system. The navigation package 3400) adds leather and a satellite-linked guidance system. There are also a number of factory-approved, dealer-installed options, including a towing package and brush guards.  compared to 2003, pilot prices reflect a modest increase of $200 for each model. Yet honda's pricing policy has its drawbacks. The grille and headlights are a careful enlargement of the cr-v's fluid wraparound face.  the wheel arches are aggressive enough to offset any impression that this is a toy truck, but subtle enough to be consistent with the pilot's likely hangouts in upscale neighborhoods and suburban mall parking lots. Large honda badges on the grille and liftgate make it clear that the company is proud of the pilot, and expects customers to feel the same way.  the pilot looks smaller than it is. Its styling belies the cavernous space inside.  honda has limited the amount of matte-black plastic bodywork that seems to be increasingly popular on sport-utilities, and we appreciate that. Body-colored moldings give the pilot ex a more refined, upscale look. The pilot's only nod to this allegedly rugged suvness is the step on the rear bumper (a good thing) and rubberized plastic guards under both bumpers. On the other hand, few suvs offer seating for eight. Those that offer seven don't often include the rear seats as standard equipment, and many mid-size suvs don't offer the extra seating at all.  moreover, the pilot's seating/cargo arrangements are exceptionally versatile. Both rows of rear seats split 60/40 to fold, for a mix of people and stuff that suits the moment.  the second- and third-row seats are slightly higher than those ahead, theater style, improving forward visibility for passengers. The second-row seatbacks recline, albeit with limited range, and this year the second row can slide forward or backward in its locked position, allowing leg room for the second and third rows to be adjusted according to the size of the passengers. The pass-through to the third seat, already one of the easiest going, has also been improved. With one motion, a lever on the seat edge allows the second seatback to pivot forward while the entire seat slides forward (further than before). The seat returns to its original position by pushing on the seat back.  the second seat folds away easily with one lever accessed through the rear passenger doors. That's considerably more than the gmc envoy or chevy trailblazer (80. 1 cubic feet), ford explorer (81. 3) or toyota highlander (81. 4). The lx model's manual seat adjustments are simple but effective.  in a particularly clever move, honda made the largest dial in the center of the instrument panel a switch to shift the audio controls from front- to rear-seat audio. The other instruments and controls will be familiar to anyone who has driven a honda. Most of the pilot's switches operate with a satisfying, positive action.  all is not perfect inside the pilot, however. The minivan-like column shifter is spindly and moves in an ovoid path, like that of the odyssey. Buttresses on the sides of the center console look like they'll collect detritus. The fold-out cell-phone holder with a power outlet seems at first a nice feature, but blocks the two cupholders in front of it. A covered compartment located below the pilot's center stack provides more storage in the space between the console and the instrument panel.  the pilot is loaded with kid-friendly stuff. There's a cupholder for every seat and pockets on the seatbacks in the first two rows. The ex includes a second-row fold-down activity tray with more cupholders and storage for pocket-sized electronic games or fast food, including a little spot that cradles sau. driving impressionthe honda pilot shares its platform with the acura mdx sport-utility and odyssey minivan, both highly successful vehicles. Like the mdx and odyssey, the pilot is a joy in daily use. The pilot's road manners seem just a little better than necessary to compete in this class. Pilot was developed primarily for highways and city streets, though its ground clearance, suspension travel and standard tires are fine for light off-highway duty.  the 240-horsepower 3. 5-liter v6 is more than adequate to propel the pilot, which weighs in at 4400 pounds. Acceleration is excellent, particularly in the 30-60 mph range that matters most in daily use. The pilot outguns the v6-powered toyota highlander by 20 horsepower. More important, the engine produces 245 pounds-feet of torque from 3000 to 5000 rpm. That compares to 222 pounds-feet at 4400 rpm for the v6 highlander. Gm's midsize suvs, the chevrolet trailblazer, gmc envoy and oldsmobile bravada, offer a 4. 2-liter straight-six producing 270 horsepower and 275 pounds-feet of torque, but those truck-based sport-utilities are about 200 pounds heavier than the pilot. And they don't have five-speed automatic transmissions.  the pilot's transmission shifts smoothly and precisely, even under hard acceleration. The electronically controlled automatic benefits from honda's grade logic control system, which moni. AM/FM✔ Power Windows✔ Climate Control✔ Cruise Control✔ Air Conditioning✔ CD Player✔ Alloy Wheels
